Summer Is practically Here! Summer is nearly here!

Summer Is practically Here! Summer is nearly here! In just a few short weeks highschool students around the country is going to be happening summer break. We receive many concerns from pupils about what they should be doing over the summer. There truly isn’t one answer.

Having read 46,000 applications, we have seen an array of summer experiences that kids have embarked on. We’ve read everything from summer programs at prestigious universities, to work that is gaining at their local mall, to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro (literally). We admire students that pursue their interests.

Right Here is a list that is short of activities you could pursue:

  • Volunteer at a hospital, park, library, aquarium or museum
  • Become a Camp Counselor at a summer camp
  • Train to become lifeguard at your local pool, pond, or coastline
  • Baby-sit your neighbor’s kid
  • Simply Take a college-visit road journey
  • Serve up fro-yo at your local frozen yogurt shop (get some work experience)
  • Sign up for a service or mission trip in the usa or abroad
  • Tutor younger students in your favorite topic
  • Take a course at your community that is local college college

Whatever you become carrying this out summer, be sure to pick a summer task predicated on that which you love doing and not based on exactly how you think it will look on your university applications.

Transfer Decisions

In about a week we are transfer that is contacting regarding their application to USC. At this point a small number of students have heard of their admission. Nevertheless, nearly all transfer applicants will get a choice or perhaps a demand for more info on or by June 1st.

If you receive a request to learn more:

Generally, the excess information we demand are your spring transcript with your final grades for the academic 12 months. This demand just isn’t an indication that the student is more apt to be admitted or perhaps not; rather it offers us having a more complete history that is academic. Once we get the additional information, you should hear of a decision within 2 to 4 weeks.

If you receive a page of admission:

You will have two weeks to submit your commitment deposit if you are admitted to the fall term. During that two week period you should receive an aid that is financial (if you applied). You will also desire to register for orientation when possible. Finally, if you want in university housing you need to complete your housing application promptly, as space is restricted for transferring students.

Professional Development

Things have started to calm down around the workplace now that all freshman decisions happen made. We’re still focusing on reviewing transfer files, but our staff recently took an https://shmoop.pro/1984-by-george-orwell-part-three-summary/ instant trip to Reno, NV to attend a conference that is professional.

While here, we attended sessions about various admission topics and best practices, such as how to produce a successful high school visit, what types of technology might be useful in the recruitment procedure, and how to read college essays while paying attention of our personal biases (positive or negative). The meeting additionally offered us a chance in order to connect with our peers from various components of the national country, including many of your high school counselors. It in fact was a opportunity that is great share our own knowledge and expertise and learn from the other person. Perhaps the most seasoned admission counselors on our staff learned one thing new at the conference!

Summer is our chance to sleep, review what we’ve learned in the last 12 months, and prepare for the year that is coming. Develop you can perform the same during your summer time break!

Summer in the town

It’s officially summer in Southern Ca! Campus is really a bit quieter, the temperatures are getting warmer, & most importantly, the pace in our office has slowed down. We’re also advantage that is taking of downtime to explore Los Angeles and all our city has to provide our students.

Like in past summers, we’re using the Summer Restaurant Series, planned by some of our own colleagues, to explore the cuisine that is local. Just month that is last we ventured to 23rd St. Café in USC’s backyard. This restaurant that is unique United states, Indian, and Mexican food, along with some fusion dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala quesadilla was quite popular in our group! For the food that is second, our restaurant series took us to Umamicatessen. According to the internet site, this location is ‘inspired by worldwide road bazaars as well as the classic American delicatessen’ while offering 5 different kitchen areas serving up diverse types of food within a hall that is dining within the Orpheum Theatre. A number of our favorite dishes during this outing were the truffle fries, made-to-order donuts, and different types of Umami’s specialty: burgers.

Besides consuming our way through some of LA’s notable restaurants, we’ll spend time during July and August going to events that are cultural checking out historic spots around the city. Some tasks we are going to experience include a guided tour of the Disney Concert Hall and Music Center, enjoying the Downtown LA Art Walk, and hopping regarding the newly opened Expo line to simply take the train to the Culver City Farmers Market.
